Gettysburg Yearbook Experience

GYE is a five-day, comprehensive workshop that offers staffs and advisers courses for yearbook, photography and desktop publishing.

The philosophy of GYE has always been to offer the most thorough instruction possible to prepare staffs and advisers for their job of completing the next year’s publications. GYE is where themes are developed, ladders planned, cover colors chosen, pages designed, pictures composed and staffs motivated. Instruction includes both large group lectures as well as small group labs, theme group sessions, and homework completed back at the dorm reinforcing the day’s lessons. In the truest sense. GYE is, indeed, a workshop. There are historical lessons as well. Participants may choose to attend the battlefield tours and candlelight ghost walking tours, and even get a first hand glimpse at the Gettysburg printing plant. Finally, on the last night of the workshop, participants feature their talents in a Variety Show that lands the luckiest some cash prizes for the trip home. Thursday morning rewards the “best of the best” at the final assembly in the CUB ballroom.
This summer’s staff will feature a combination of outstanding advisers, many of whom have received national honors from JEA, NSPA, and CSPA, and a group of hard-working Herff Jones representatives, many of them former award-winners themselves. The faculty is excited to share their knowledge of yearbooks with you!

GYE 2012 will be held on the Gettysburg College campus July 15-19, 2012…
