Gettysburg Yearbook Experience

The schedule for the week allows some free time as well! Some staffs use this time to visit the Gettysburg Herff Jones printing plant, or continue fine-tuning their theme packet, others simply use the time for fun. With the benefits of the Gettysburg College campus, students enjoy sand volleyball, basketball or swimming.

Ghostwalk Tour – Participants may learn more about Gettysburg through a leisurely walk in the dark, listening to the tales recorded by historian and author Mark Nesbitt. Only “Ghosts of Gettysburg” can offer entertainment and history in the same tour. The town is filled with documented history and popular legends; however, the Ghost Tours have proven that there is a great deal of interest in what cannot be officially documented—the unexplained experiences that people are sometimes hesitant to share. Only participants who signed up and paid the admission fee during registration may participate. Tours will begin in front of the College Union Building on Monday-Tuesday evenings. NO REFUNDS.

Battlefield Tour - Participants may tour the Gettysburg Battlefields on chartered buses for workshop participants only. The tour begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and lasts approximately two hours.  Participants must be on the bus at 6:15 p.m. if you want to attend. The bus will LEAVE at 6:30 p.m. The battlefield tour covers all the major Gettysburg landmarks. Only participants who reserved their seats by paying their fee during registration may participate.

Herff Jones Plant Tour - Any participant who would like to see how a yearbook is produced is invited to tour the Herff Jones Yearbook print­ing plant during his/her free time on Monday afternoon. Board the school bus in front of the College Union Building  at 1:15 p.m. A special adviser plant tour is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The “walk-­through” tour lasts about 45 minutes and features the highlights of yearbook printing. There is no fee required to participate in the Plant Tour.

Variety Show – Wednesday night will showcase a variety of talents of some or your peers! Tryouts for the annual Variety Show will be held Monday and Tuesday in the CUB Ballroom.  Bring your instruments, outfits, props, etc… and come try out for the Variety Show! Lucky winners will leave with a cash prize.

Dance – Celebrate the conclusion of camp on Wednesday night at the GYE dance which will be held in the Attic.  A DJ will be there to play the latest dance songs.
